David Leo "Peppy" Piroli

David Leo "Peppy" Piroli, 62, of Cannon Court, died Friday at Albany Medical Center, from a series of medical problems, brought on by diabetes. Born in Albany, January 18, 1947, son of the late Leo and Margaret "Betty" Tucker Piroli, Dave was a 1965 graduate of Mechanicville High School. A U.S. Army veteran from 1966 to 1968, he spent about a year in the Republic of South Vietnam in 1967. Dave worked for General Electric's Silicone Products Division in Waterford for over 30 years before retirement. A coach for the Mechanicville Pop Warner youth football program for a number of years, Dave and fellow coaches helped mold future championship Red Raider football teams. A sports card collector, he was a HUGE New York Yankees and Giants fan. Survivors include his two sons, David and wife, Amy Piroli of Waterford, Andrew and wife, Andrea Piroli of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren, Adriana, Ashley and Andrew Piroli and life partner, Kathleen Osgood of Mechanicville; sister, JoAnn Alonzo of Mechanicville; brother, John "Yogi" and Carol Piroli of Clifton Park; sisters, Marilyn Mahoney and Jacqueline Mastrocola, both of Mechanicville; his wife of many years, Linda Bianco Piroli of Waterford; along with a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 2 Suite 204, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205, in loving memory of David "Peppy" Piroli.
