DAVID STEVENSON Obituary

David William Stevenson, 78, of Ballston Spa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, November 20, 2009. David was born in Greenwich, CT, on September 27, 1931 to the late David and Ann Finch Stevenson. He married Jane Allen Stevenson of NYC on August 27, 1966. David was educated at Randolph Macon & Lycoming Colleges. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After working in sales most of his life, he retired as regional sales manager for J. A. Sexauer, a division of Dyson-Kissner-Moran, in Scarsdale, NY. He lived in Wilton, CT, for 23 years before moving to Ballston Spa, NY, in 1990. While living in Connecticut, he served on the Board of Trustees and Deacon Committee at Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield, CT. He coached soccer and baseball when his children were young and was involved as chairman of the Wilton Republican Town Committee for a number of years. While living in New York State, he attended East Glenville Community Church and loved to serve the Lord in any way he could. During his later years, David enjoyed learning about antiques, especially clocks, and woodworking. David is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughter, Sara Stevenson and her husband, Patrick Drury; his son, David A. Stevenson; and his grandchildren, Celia and Kira Drury. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Bucholz of Darien, CT; his nephews, Erik Bucholz of Darien, CT, and David Bucholz, wife, Barri; and two grandnephews, Forrest and Wilson of Alpine, Wyoming; and his beloved cousins, Marion Alexander, Ruth and (Wallace) Mason, Judy and (Hal) Blaue and Paul Finch and their families. His family would like to thank the many dedicated health care professionals that cared for David over the years. There will be a memorial service and reception on Saturday, December 5 at 11 a.m. at East Glenville Community Church, 335 Saratoga Road, Scotia, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Schenectady City Mission, Youth for Christ or to East Glenville Community Church.
