Edith V. Navaretta

Edith V. Navaretta 96, passed away on Monday evening December 20th at Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Schenectady, NY. Born and educated in Brooklyn, Edith was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (O’Dell) Hepburn. A graduate of Syracuse School for Cosmetology, Edith worked for many years as a cosmetologist at the Boston Store, the Carl Company and at Draper Pharmacy in Rotterdam. A member of the home bureau for over 25 years, Edith was a seamstress and an animal and bird lover. Predeceased in 2014 by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Frederick Navaretta, Edith was also predeceased by her siblings, James Hepburn, William Hepburn, Dorothy Norton and Winfred McCarthy. She is survived by her children, James R. Young of Atlanta, GA., Emily Young-DeLeury of Saratoga, William F. Navaretta (Karen Kemp) of Rotterdam, Kathleen F. Navarette (Don Ramsey) of Altamont and Vincent P. Navaretta of Schenectady, her sister Lucille Eaker of Florida, daughter-in-law ,Shelley Navaretta of Loudonville, her 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Edith’s life will be held on Thursday December 23,2021 at 11 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY. Edith’s family would like to thank nurse Theresa Bianchi and the rest of the Schenectady Center staff for their kindness and compassion for the past several years.
