GAIL PACKARD Obituary

Gail Owen Packard, "Skip," 64, of County Route 12, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010, at home due to complications of Agent Orange. Born April 28, 1945 in Albany, he was a son of the late Ruth (Saddlemire) and Raymond Packard. Skip was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War from 1965 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. Skip was a self employed logger, owning and operating Triangle Lake Timber and Swan Pond Lodge. He was the last Bull of The Woods! He had also retired from General Electric. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Margaret L. Packard. Survivors include his longtime companion, Cathie Wickkiser of Rensselaerville; two brothers, Gary Packard and David Packard, both of Rensselaerville; a sister, Delfa Packard of Seattle, WA, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, exclusive provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.
