Herbert A. "Bert" Goodwin

Herbert "Bert" A. Goodwin, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Englewood, NJ, Bert was the son of the late George and Violet (Grint) Goodwin. He proudly served in the National Guard before honorably serving his country in United States Army from 1954 to 1956.  He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. During Bert's time in New Jersey, he was a very active member of Emerson Bible Church and later an active member of the local Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Bert was a master tinkerer, fixing and building cars were his specialty. He worked for 35 years in New York City as an elevator mechanic. Later in life Bert earned his private pilot's license. In his spare time, when he wasn't working on cars or flying planes, Bert enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, pickle ball and tennis. Bert was a kind and loving soul who adored his family with all his heart. He loved the Lord, above all, and touched everyone he met. Bert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan; his children, Robin Harrison (Jay), Scott Goodwin (Linda) and Joy Fiacco (Marc); his grandchildren, Daniel Wohlrab (Katie), Orion Harrison (Rochelle), Tyler Goodwin (Deanna), Autumn Ferkaluk (Brian), Jonathan Goodwin (Vanessa), Forest Fullam (Jon) and Eric Fiacco, Adam Fiacco and Nina Fiacco; as well as his great-grandchildren, Adriel Fullam, Mira Ferkaluk, Cooper Goodwin, Odette Fullam and Andrew Goodwin. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Edwin Goodwin and predeceased by his siblings, Ruth Huff, George Jr. Goodwin, and Fred Goodwin. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3662 Giffords Church Road in Princetown, NY with a reception to follow. A private graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring. Contributions in Bert's name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
