John Fain Obituary

John Fain, 85, formerly of Schoharie died Monday, September 28th at his home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, following a long illness. John was born February 9, 1930 in Schoharie, NY, a son of John and Mary (Gardner) Fain. He graduated from Schoharie High School and later, enlisted in the US Army in 1952. He honorably served his country during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954 when he returned to his native Schoharie County. John married and began raising his family when they moved to the Tampa, Florida area and began his long career with Anheuser-Busch as an Assistant to the Brewmaster. After retiring, John spent summers enjoying Schoharie County, visiting friends and family and winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Survivors include his children, Michael (Eileen) Fain of Matthews, NC, Karen (David) Scott of Black Mt., NC, Donna Miller of Tampa, FL and Susan Fain of New Smyrna Beach, FL; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra; and his brothers, Robert, Richard, Stanley and Donald. A brief graveside with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 5th at the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to VITAS Hospice, 114 Canal St., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. The Langan Funeral Home is assisting the Fain Family.
