John Mulvaney Obituary

John T. Mulvaney Sr. Ballston Lake John T. Mulvaney Sr. (Jack) passed away on April 8, 2015 at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs, NY at the age of 87. He was born on November 9, 1927 to Thomas and Helen Mulvaney, and sibling to two sisters. Jack grew up in Scotia, NY, where he met his childhood sweetheart, Gloria Cote. In 1947, they married and began a family in Ballston Lake. Jack earned his living as a machinist at General Electric. He retired after 39 years of service. Jack spent 23 years volunteering with the ambulance squad. He also volunteered with the Ballston Lake Fire Department for 43 years, five of which he spent as a chief. He officially retired in 1987 and spent his days golfing and bowling with friends and family for years. Jack's friends and family all knew about his passion for country music. He played lead guitar and was front man of his band The Country Casuals. He played dances, events and benefits including those for organizations like the Saratoga ARC. Jack continued to perform well into his early 80s, gracing listeners with his beautiful voice and impeccable guitar playing. Later on in life he served as a deacon, and went on to start a men's Bible study for Faith Baptist Church. They would meet twice a month at his favorite place to eat, the Burnt Hills Cafe. Above all, Jack adored his family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria; his children, Sharon Baesen (Ross), John Mulvaney, Jr. (Gail) and Kathy Mulvaney; his grandchildren, Shelly Baesen, Tim Baesen (Kelly) and Kim Mulvaney; his great-grandchildren, Jared, Joshua and Amanda Baesen; his sister, Helen Holcumb, and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Groncki. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 11 Glenridge Road, Rexford. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Mary's Haven, 35 New Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
