John Patrick "Sean" Munnelly

John Patrick "Sean" Munnelly, 72, of Broadalbin, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs.He was born in January of 1946 in Rath, County Meath, Ireland to Patrick and Margaret Gannon Munnelly. Sean lived in Broadalbin for over thirty years and was self-employed.Mr. Munnelly served in Viet Nam with the Big Red One in the US Army.He was a life member of the American Legion Post #337 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #3690, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a former member of the Mayfield Servicemen's Club.Sean was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Galway.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ferriter Munnelly.Survivors include his devoted wife, Lois Rosenzweig Munnelly; three sons, John (Heidi) Munnelly of RI, Niall Munnelly of NY, and Pierce Munnelly of Germany; his stepchildren, Bonnie Aldi (Andrew) and George (Denise) Baker; three grandchildren, Shelby, Angel, and Gabriel; seven step-grandchildren, Harley, John, Caitland, Cody, Jayden, Nikolas, and Destinee; his siblings, Mary, Padraig, Theresa, Michael, Seumas, Thomas, Kathleen, Maggie, Annie, and Joseph; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church 2113 East Street, Galway with the Rev. Thomas J. Kelly, officiating. Final burial with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road Schuylerville.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Lifesaver or to St. Mary's Church, both in care of the funeral home.A celebration of Sean's life will be held at the American Legion in Broadalbin following the services at the National Cemetery.
