Joseph Fingerhut Obituary

Joseph E. Fingerhut Rotterdam Joseph E. Fingerhut, 64, was reunited with his son, Joey, in heaven on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, on his beloved wife's birthday, with his family by his side. Born on November 9, 1950, he was the son of the late Edward and Jane Lescoe Fingerhut. Joe graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, in 1968. He attended Modern Welding School and began a 42-year career with the General Electric Company, retiring in 2010. He entered the company as a chipper and grinder, worked his way to welder, and reached the position of instrument mechanic in the Gage Lab, where he formed lasting friendships with his co-workers. He served his country by joining the New York National Guard 105th MP Unit for seven years. Joe was very active in his son's sport's activities by coaching and managing Rotterdam Little League, and Babe Ruth and also Rotterdam Pop Warner. Joe was an active and proud parent following Jaimee's sports, and academic activities. In 1994 Joe was bestowed the honor of holding the position of Exalted Ruler of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157. He loved his involvement with his brother Elks, and the activities of the Lodge. His family was the most important accomplishment in his life. He met his soulmate and was married into a family who he considered his own. Joe is survived by his wife, Linda (Palmerino), whom he married on September 5, 1970 and spent 44 years raising their children and spending loving time with their four beautiful grandchildren. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Jaimee; and was predeceased by his son, Joseph John, who he adored. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kendra (Smith) Fingerhut. Joe was blessed with his grandchildren, Baylee Fingerhut, Avery Fingerhut, Joseph Amos Fingerhut, and Luciano Fingerhut. They were his whole world. He is also is survived by his sisters, Barbara Burnham, of Vermont, and Beverly (Gary) Cook. He was predeceased by his sister, Janis Fingerhut. He is the uncle to Jason (Niki) Burnham, Gary and Matthew Cook, Noelle (Michael) Angelozzi, Lindsey (Robert) Palluti, Nicholas Ferraro and Brionna Palmerino. Joe was loved like a brother to his sister-in-law, Amy (Louis) Ferraro, and a Big Brother to John (Denise) Palmerino; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 5th at the DeLegge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Rd. Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Joseph John Fingerhut Memorial Fund, in care of Christian Brothers Academy, 12 Airline Dr., Albany, NY 12205.
