Judith Brown Obituary

Judith (Judy) May Brown went to be with her dear Savior on Friday, January 22, 2021. She was born on June 27, 1941 daughter of the late Harold and Alice Fredericks. Judy graduated from Pearl River High School and received her BA in Sociology from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1963. She was a caseworker for the New Jersey Bureau of Family and Children's Services in Newark, New Jersey prior to moving to New York with her husband to raise their family. In her teenage years she traveled widely as an exchange student to Guatemala, cycled 750 miles through Europe, and participated in a mission to Mexico. Later she accompanied her husband on several mission trips to the Brazilian Amazon. Judy moved to Schenectady with her husband when he became director of "Snoopy's Place", a coffeehouse and drop-in center that ministered to the young "street people" of the early 70's. Judy was actively involved in that ministry and her home was always open to serve those in need. To many she became "Mom". She also served with her pastor-husband at the Community Fellowship at Princetown for many years as church secretary. Judy was also a skilled writer and published author, her first novel, Choices was released in 1990. In later years her greatest pleasure was serving as a volunteer with her faithful coonhound, Noah, a certified therapy dog through Therapy Dogs International. For over nine years they regularly visited schools, nursing homes, libraries, and the mental health units at Ellis Hospital. Surviving are her beloved husband of 57 years, Rev. David Brown, one brother, Donald (Christine) of Canandaigua NY, daugher Lisa (Russell) Germond of Victor NY, daughter Joanna Flynn of Schenectady, grandsons Jesse Deisinger, Aiden Germond, Egan and Gavin Flynn, granddaughters Allison Hartley, Shaina Garrettt, Paige Deisinger and great-grandchildren Elvira Garrett and Fox Hartley. Her family was her greatest joy. There are also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews surviving. A memorial service will be held in the Spring at the Community Fellowship at Princetown with interment at Fairview Cemetery Princetown. Memorial gifts may be sent to Community Fellowship at Princetown, 3616 Currybush Road Schenectady 12306, or the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady.
