Marion Ryan Obituary

Marion Kross Ryan, 86, a long time resident of Pruyn Hill, Mechanicville, NY, passed away on Friday, January 30, at St. Peters Hospice Inn in the company of her children. Born in Albany, she was the beloved daughter of the late Benjamin and Blanch Applebee Kross. Prior to becoming a homemaker, she graduated from Roessleville High School and was employed by the New York Telephone Co. and WOKO. Marion was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and CDA Juniorettes, Columbiettes Knights of Columbus Council # 208, St. Paul's School PTA, and a den mother to Troop 39 of the Boy Scouts of America. She took pride in her garden, collected and sold antique furniture with her son, John, and was a lifelong supporter of Native American missions. Above all, she was a loving and deeply committed mother to her children and drew her greatest joy from the closeness and unity of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A devoted wife, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, William D. Ryan; and her son, Jude T. Ryan. Marion is survived by her six children, John J. Ryan of Clifton Park, Maria (Anthony) Russo of Clifton Park, Susan (James) Peluso of Mechanicville, Patricia (Thomas) Dosiek of Plattsburgh, Dr. William D. (Marge) Ryan of Whitesboro, and Mark T. Ryan of Mechanicville. She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren, Anthony Russo, Christopher Russo, James Peluso, Janelle (Robert) Meager, Michael (Christina) Peluso, Suzanne Peluso, Luke Dosiek, Katie (Tristram) Taylor, Ellen Ryan, William Ryan, and Annie Ryan. She held an especially loving place in her heart for her great-grandchildren, Bobby Meager, Ryan Meager, and Marianna Peluso. Marion was the sister of Harriet Faas, Rose Gage, Patricia Zaremski, and Benjamin Kross, and the late Isabelle Kross and Irene Williams. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, 9 a.m., at Assumption-St.Paul's Church, North Main Street, Mechanicville, followed by entombment in St. Paul's Masoleum. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118. Contributions may be made in Marion's memory to St. Labre Indian School, 1000 Tongue River Road, Ashland, MT 59003 or St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, So. Dakota, 57326.
