RALPH GUERRA Obituary

Ralph A. Guerra, 82, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. A lifetime resident of Schenectady, he also resided at The Baptist Retirement Center. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Rocco and Mamie Guerra. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, he was employed by the City of Schenectady in Parks and Recreation, worked at Bradt School in the maintenance department and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Ralph was an avid bowler. He held many titles throughout his younger years and even held the first ever Marble Championship. He also loved to sing and had a great sense of humor. Ralph was the beloved husband of the late Rose Struffolino Guerra, who passed away in 2004; loving father of Robert Guerra, Deborah Cotugno and the late Ralph (Sonny) Guerra; cherished grandfather of Robyn Cotugno; brother of the late Mary Cipriano, Florence Giello, Ellen Guerra, and Rose Kelly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 8:30 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment, St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Ralph in a special way may make a contribution to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady, NY 12303. Ralph's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at The Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Ellis Hospital for the special care and kindness shown to him during his stay.
