Raymond Mark Minick

1942 - 2023

Raymond Mark Minick, 81, of Stillwater passed unexpectedly on June 6th at Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Stillwater on March 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Paul and Margaret (Rancourt) Minick. Ray resided in Stillwater all of his life.

Ray worked most of his life. He dedicated time working with Royal Dyer & Sons, Doug Dyer & Sons, and retired after 38 and a half years with the NYS Department of Transportation in Waterford. He enjoyed yearly get-togethers with fellow retirees.

While he held many interests, some his favorites were classic cars and car racing, both Dirt and NASCAR. Ray enjoyed time at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway since the day the track opened, rarely missing a Friday night. He was a member of the American Legion Post 490, as well as a lifetime member of the Newlandwood Fire Department.

His most treasured time was spent with the family that he adored. Raymond married his beautiful wife, Phyllis (Lamica) Minick on August 3, 1979. They built a life together with children and grandchildren. Ray is survived by sons Mark (Karen) Minick of Stillwater/Greenwich and Michael (Lisa) Minick of Mechanicville and daughters Renee (Bill) Callanan and Raylene (Tom) Whitney both of Stillwater.

Ray was the adoring Pop to Matthew (Nikki) Simoncavage, Ashley (Ian) Godfrey, Mark (Jenna) Minick, Brooke (Brandon) Simoncavage, Leah (Zack) Jordan, Aidan and Madelyn Callanan and Cooper Whitney. He was great-grandfather to Matthew, Joseph, John, Luke, Logan, Roman, Rhett, Theo, and Riley Rae. Pop made it to most games and school events through the years and will be missed cheering in the stands. He was extremely proud of his family.

Ray is also survived by siblings Kay Campbell of Scotia, Rose Sgambati of Ballston Lake, and Patrick Minick of Stillwater, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Michele Simoncavage, great-grandson, Leo Godfrey and his brother, James Minick.

Calling hours will be on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at All Saints on the Hudson Church, Stillwater. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday in the church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Stillwater.
