Robert Sleasman Obituary

Robert P. Sleasman, 76, born and raised in Albany, NY, passed away Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Frederick and Eleanor Sleasman. Upon his graduation from high

school, he served in the U.S. Navy until 1969. While stationed at the Naval Air Station in Albany, GA, he met the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Edith Anne Reed.

Together, they raised 3 beautiful children. After returning to Albany, NY, Bob worked alongside his father and uncles, at the Modern Food Market on New Scotland Avenue, and more recently at University Wine and Liquor on Western Avenue. Bob was not only a great father, but together he and Edith fostered many babies through Catholic Charities.

Bob enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James, honorary family member Johnny Owens, brother in-law Lyle Boyce and special son Anthony.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Kimberly (Peter) Gregory, Heather Lounsbury, and son/best friend Reed. He was a loving and adoring Poppy who will be deeply missed by his 5 grandchildren, Abigail and Matthew Gregory, Madison Santana and Jackson and Jameson Lounsbury. He is also survived by his sister Regine Boyce and many members of the Sleasman and Reed families.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the phenomenal nursing staff and caregivers on 5 McAuley, and to the pulmonary teams at Dr. Gold's office and St. Peter's Hospital, whose love and compassion exceeded all expectations.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family Monday, June 12, 2023 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany, NY 12208.

To Bob's family -- was so shocked to see of his passing -- what a wonderful wonderful individual he was -- always a smile of his cheerful face -- positive attitude and caring person. Cherish the memories you have stored in your hearts -- they will get you through this difficult time. Got to know him at University Wine & Liquor and he became a dear friend of all of us. Was able to meet his son at All Saints one Sunday. My prayers are with you all and Bob. God Bless. Mary Lou Bartolotta-Connolly

Dear Edith, Kim, Heather, Reed, and Family ~ Bob´s picture in his Obituary is truly Beautiful; I smile just looking at it. Please know your whole Family is in our daily prayers. Edith, you and Bobby were the 3rd & 4th friends we met when we moved here in 1979 ... and have been friends ever since. I will miss seeing Bob whenever you and I are playing cards in the Kitchen; and seeing Bob with his son, Reed (a super bond). I hope you will all be comforted by your memories of Bob in your lives: Husband, Dad, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, & good friend. Much love, K&J.
