Timothy Putnam Obituary

Timothy "Tim" E. Putnam, 58, formerly of Scotia and most recently of Duanesburg, died suddenly on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence. He was born on February 8, 1959 in Schenectady and was the son of Lewis and the late Sheila (Menhinick) Putnam. Tim attended Scotia-Glenville Schools. He played 3 years of Varsity Football, was a member of the former Beukandaal Baseball League and Scotia Pop Warner Football. He most recently was a self-employed carpenter. He mastered his trade, which was admired and requested by many. Tim was a mentor to several young men, including his two nephews, Austin and Jim. His infectious smile and hearty laugh will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Tim loved to entertain with a good bonfire and family and friends. He was an avid NY Jets fan, enjoying the games with his daughters. Tim's memories will be cherished by his two daughters, Brittany Putnam of Saratoga Springs and Alexa Putnam of Schenectady; his father, Lewis Putnam of Melbourne, FL; four sisters, Leslie (Ronald) Wood of Rotterdam, Lee Wade of Clifton Park, Lori (Greg) Steese of Jacksonville, FL and Tracey Smith of Glenville; two brothers, Michael (Sherry) Putnam of Greesboro, NC and Richard (Janet) Putnam of Cobleskill; one uncle, Paul (Joan) Menhinick of Glenville; his former wife, Kimberly (Burns) Putnam of Scotia; and his beloved nieces and nephews along with numerous friends. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at The Tartan Restaurant (former San Souci), 216 Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302 from 12 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Tim's honor to The Ronald McDonald House, 139 Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12208, the same organization requested by his family for their mother. Tim's brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Janet, with Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY are affectionately caring for their cherished family members.
