William Hoffman Obituary

William G. Hoffman, of Niskayuna, New York, 92 passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021. He was born in Gary, Indiana and moved with his mother (Esther Hoffman) to Schenectady New York. He left Schenectady and served as a Staff Sergeant in the 82nd airborne training troops during the Korean War at Fort Bragg N.C. This is where he met the love of his life, our mom Sarah. As far as Dad was concerned the world revolved around his family. When he was discharged from the Army he was employed by the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory where he worked on the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus. During his time at KAPL he became active with union organizations which began his long-term association with the IUE AFL CIO. Serving in various capacities through the years he retired in 1991 as chairman of the Professional Technical and Salary Board. He gave our mom the best gift he ever could by moving back to a beach front home in North Carolina so she could be near her brothers and sisters. In their later years they moved to Niskayuna New York to be near their children and grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by the love of his life Sarah (Wright) Hoffman. He is survived by Vivian (Daniel) Galli, Paul Hoffman and John (Karen) Hoffman. His grandchildren are Cassandra (Mike) Morano, Connor Hoffman, Adam Custer, Ryan Custer, Zachary Hoffman, Sarah Hoffman and Mark Hoffman. He is survived by his brother-in-law James Paige and his brother in-law and sister-in-law on Sarah’s side, James Wright and Linda Bryant. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
