William Padowicz Obituary

William (Billy) J. Padowicz, 62, died Friday, November 20th at Albany Medical Center after being stricken at work. Born in Amsterdam, NY, June 15th, 1953. He was the son of the late Adolph and Vivian (Dybas) Padowicz. Bill was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He attended Bryant College, Fulton- Montgomery Community College, SUNY Plattsburg and Schenectady Community College. Bill was employed by Southern Wine and Spirits at the time of his death. He was an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter and entertainer. He performed at many locales in the area over the years, including the Grinch in Schenectady, Duffy's Tavern in Lake George, and the Full Moon in Glen Lake, where he was known as "Mr. Fun", "Tonto" or "Bill Tainer". Bill never turned down a request to play at charity benefits, no matter the location or the hour and was a staple at many a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Besides his musical talents, Bill was an accomplished story teller, avid golfer, and long suffering fan of the New York Giants Football. Bill was a gourmet cook who excelled at French cuisine and the Polish cuisine he grew up with. One of his family's fondest memories is a large pan of Golombki baking in the oven. Bill was also a member of the Glens Falls Elks Lodge, where he enjoyed organizing and preparing the monthly Lodge fund raising breakfast events. Bill is survived by his wife, Karen Maune Padowicz; daughter, Zoey Padowicz (Jonathan); sister, Susan Nutting (Kenneth); several nieces and nephews; and many supportive friends. Funeral Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Rd., Queensbury, NY. A memorial celebration of Bill's life will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81, 32 Cronin Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804. Donations in Bill's name can be made to Youth Charites, Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81, 32 Cronin Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804. My sincere condolences to Bill's family. I was one of Bill's college roomates and the 2 years we spent together in Plattsburg were unforgettable. He introduced me to a lot of different music while in P'burg and broadened my musical interest's for the rest of my life. Like many of his Plattsburg and Amsterdam friends, Bill played "The Wedding Song"at the church at all of our Wedding's. He and another deceased Roomate, used to play music in the dorm bathrooms and their blues jams were really special. He touched a lot of people with his music and I will always remember the great times we shared and what a genuinley nice guy he was. Besides Bill Tainer and Tonto Goldstein, Bill had another nickname that only his older friends knew and that was "Sugarbear" or as we often called him "Bear". Rest in Peace Bill.

My sincere condolences to the family of Bill Padowicz. I remember him well from many nights at the Electric Grinch and all the wild and crazy fun we had there in the 70's and 80's. Rest in peace, Bill Tainer.

Susan, will always remember Bill's great smile and never knowing when we would wake up and find him sleeping on our couch. He was a one of a kind nice guy. I am glad to hear he continued the Padowitz tradition of cooking great Polish food. He died much too soon but lived life to the fullest while he was around.
