BARBARA CANNISTRA Obituary

Barbara Ann Cannistra, age 85, passed away peacefully July 9th, 2023, exactly four months after the death of her husband of 64 years, Steve. She is the loving mother of Steven L. Cannistra of Marengo, IL, Mary Kay (Dale) Steward of Thornton, CO, Chris (Mike) Gall of Anthem, AZ. Adored grandmother of Katherine (Bill) Mucci, Sam Garcia and Nik Gall. Great-grandmother "Gigi" of Max who shares the same birthday. Devoted daughter of the late Catherine and Louis Porcaro. Dearest sister of Carl and Linda Porcaro and the late Louis, Ronald, Guy and Joel. A woman of deep faith, she valued the friendships she made along the way. Family and friends will meet Thursday morning, July 13th, at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Ave., Mt. Prospect, IL, for visitation from 9:30 am until time of mass at 10:30 am. Entombment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Dementia Society of America PO Box 600 Doylestown, PA 18901.

Dear Mary Kay,
Your mom was such a lovely lady and I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She and your dad are together now and I hope that gives you comfort. Deepest sympathy to you, Steve , Chris and all the Cannistras.

Barbara was a great lady who I had the pleasure of knowing. As with Steve, I had not heard of her passing. Communication lines are broken since so many of our peers are gone. Rest in peace dear Barbara.
