Craig L. Acheson

Craig L. Acheson, age 78, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born on August 29, 1947, in Painesville, OH.

Craig is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Janet (née Votypka); his loving children, Brad Acheson (Theresa) of Nashotah, WI, and Lindsay DeCeault (Matthew) of Poway, CA; and his four adored grandchildren, Olivia Acheson, James Acheson, Audrey DeCeault, and Theodore DeCeault. He is also survived by his sister Claudia Chapman (Tom) and brother Kevin Acheson (Jackie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Acheson (née Miller).

Craig grew up in Painesville, Ohio, and graduated from Riverside High School. Following high school, he attended Louisiana State University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Military Police (MP) officer from 1969 to 1970. Upon his return, he graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in business administration. Craig was a dedicated professional who started his own successful CPA firm in Naperville, which he managed until his retirement. He genuinely enjoyed his work, especially meeting new clients who often became lifelong friends. Craig was an avid football player in his youth and loved playing catch with his children. He had a great love of life and was always eager to learn new skills. Craig was a devoted husband, loving father, and a deeply blessed grandfather who was affectionately known as "Peepaw." His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Craig’s life, memorial donations may be directed to the Edward J. Hines V.A. Hospital.
