1987 - 2016

ST. CHARLES - Daniel John Schmidt, age 29, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. He was born February 3, 1987 in St. Charles, Illinois to John and Sherry Schmidt. He graduated with honors in 2006 from St. Charles East High School. He was a member of Jazz Band, Peer Leadership, National Honor Society. He graduated in 2010 from Columbia College in Chicago with a screen writing degree. He was a member of St. John Neumann Church in St. Charles and was active in the student ministry during his high school years. Dan was active in The Muscular Dystrophy Association and currently active in the Horizon Camp Association, a non-profit group for adults with disabilities. Over the years, Dan won many awards and was recognized for his caring and giving way with others. In 2007, he was awarded the Hometown Heroes Award as Youth Good Samaritan presented by the American Red Cross. He currently had his own business, a podcast called Cross the Airwaves.com, where he worked with able-body and people with disabilities to create a way to bring people together to talk about television and movies but mostly Superheroes of all kinds. His goal in life was to spread happiness and peace to all. He loved writing and was in the process of writing a graphic novel. There are many teachers that touched Dan's life. Dan is survived by his parents, a brother, Joseph, a sister, Katie all of St. Charles, his maternal grandfather, Glen Lauderdale of Aurora, his uncle, Larry (Vicay) Lauderdale of Montgomery, his aunt, Anna (Kevin) Weselak of Lombard, his cousins, Tim, Tom, Kristin, Laura and Michael and his Goddaughter, Nola Weselak. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Ann Schmidt and his maternal grandmother, Edith Lauderdale. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 1st at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 East Main Street, (Rt. 64), St. Charles. Burial will be at Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St. (corner of Route 64 and Route 25), St. Charles.
