ELIZABETH KUNZWEILER Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Kunzweiler (nee Drew), 94, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021, in her home surrounded by the love and prayers of her beloved family and with the wonderful care and support of her nurses and caregivers. Born on May 9, 1926 at home in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Betty married the love of her life Richard "Dick" Kunzweiler in 1947 and lived many years in Palatine, IL. They were blessed with five children, Steve (Kathy), Diane (Glenn) Ruklic, David (Jody), Kevin (Maggie) and Kent (Mary Jo). Betty was the proud and devoted grandmother to 13 and loving great-grandmother to 14, with another little blessing on the way. Betty and Dick always supported their children and grandchildren in all their endeavors and were their biggest fans - attending countless sporting events, concerts, competitions and activities. While raising her family, Betty and a group of fellow realtors started their own firm - ARC Associates Realty Corp. in 1978. After many years, Betty retired to spend more time with her ever-growing family. Betty was the matriarch of her big Irish family, and her love for them was boundless. Simple joys filled her days, which were overflowing with phone calls, visits, cards and pictures from all who knew and loved her. She treasured every moment with her family and inspired them, as she did so many others in her life, with her positive outlook and her love and commitment to her family and friends. She kept them all in her prayers, always. Betty was a lifelong Catholic, and she and Dick were founding members of the St. Thomas of Villanova faith community in 1961. Throughout her life, she held an unwavering faith in God. She joins her beloved Dick and her family and friends who have passed before her in Heaven. We all have beautiful and fun memories of Betty and her endless love will remain as our guide, for although we cannot see her, she will always be in our hearts and we will feel her at our side, cheering us on. A celebration of Betty's wonderful life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS), PO Box 772386, Detroit, MI 48277; Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), 1900 Heatherglen Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451, or cards may be sent to Cabinets Plus, Inc., 706 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL 60074. For more information, please call the funeral home, 847-359-8020.

"She treasured every moment with her family and inspired them, as she did so many others in her life, with her positive outlook and her love and commitment to her family and friends." This sums it up for us. I remember her service to the church, the school and the community, with her smile and positive outlook. She and you are in our prayers. E.J. and the rest of the Sullivans.
