Eva Gabriel Obituary

Eva Gabriel of Arlington Heights The funeral service for Eva Gabriel (nee Aloisi), 87, formerly of Waupaca, Wis., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Elk Grove Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Elk Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village. Born in St. Louis, Mo., she died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at The Moorings in Arlington Heights. In her younger years, she enjoyed a professional dance career and traveled the world, dancing with her sister, Elsie, in the USO during the 1940's. After the war, Eva met Sam in Florida and shortly thereafter, they were married. Eva became a housewife, "the hardest job there is," as she often reminded people. Eva cared for her daughter, Alison, and son, Dave, until both graduated from college. Eva and Sam then moved to Waupaca and enjoyed 20 years of glorious retirement, where she golfed, was an active member of the church and spent every evening with Sam, playing their favorite games. Recently, Eva and Sam moved back to Arlington Heights to live in a retirement community. There, Eva was always busy with meeting new friends and welcoming new residents on the welcoming committee. Surviving Eva is her husband of 52 years, Sam Gabriel; daughter, Alison Gabriel Reilly and husband, Michael; son, Dave Gabriel and wife, Kathleen, with their children, Emily, Sam and Jack.
