James August Longfield Funeral services for James August Longfield, 68, will begin with prayers at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Parish, 348 W. Mill St., Wauconda. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, the funeral home. Born May 31, 1941, in Chicago, the son of August and Betty (nee Wilson) Longfield of Wauconda, he passed away Jan. 25, 2010. Jim graduated from Wauconda High School in 1959 and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Germany, where he was promoted to sergeant. After his service ended he went to work for Material Service and later went into sales. In 1976 he founded a successful construction supply company, Multiple Concrete Accessories Corp. In addition to being a successful real estate investor, he was an avid horsemen and golfer. He also coached Little League and softball for eight years. In 1997 he partnered with his brother, Mike and son, Jim to open the popular cigar bar in Palatine, Burning Ambitions. He sold his construction supply business in 1998 and retired to West Palm Beach, Fla. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen "Kitty" (Hines) of Wauconda; son Jim Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Damico; grandsons, Alec and Kyle Damico of Jupiter, Fla.; brothers, Michael (Cathryn) and Tom (Joan); sister, Nancy Markauskas; and brother at heart, Dennis Ciesil.
