Jasper "Jay" Piazza

Jasper "Jay" Piazza of West Dundee A memorial Mass for Jasper "Jay" Piazza, 75, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The Rev. Sennen SanFratello will officiate. Born Nov. 29, 1926, in Elgin, to Anthony and Jennie (nee Blandino) Piazza, he died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at home, surrounded by his family. Burial will be private. A veteran, Mr. Piazza had served in the Army during World War II. He was retired from Melahn Construction Company, where he had worked for many years. Jay was a member of American Legion Post #57 of Elgin and Elgin Elks Lodge #737, and was a longtime volunteer with the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving are his sons, David C. Piazza of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Mark (Susan) Piazza of West Dundee; daughters, Karen E. Piazza of Schaumburg, Nancy (Mike) Kotar of Paradise, Calif., Marianne (Luke) Fischer of Round Lake Beach, Jayne E. Brown of Waukegan and Jennifer Piazza of West Dundee; brother, Leonard Piazza of Florida; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Linda Forester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ann Piazza (nee Knott), whom he married in 1948 and who passed away in 1994; and sister, Laura. Please omit flowers.
