My prayers and condolences to the Atkinson family at this time of sorrow. My name is Joe as well and I worked for the Chase Bank on Cook St. where Joe was one of our very very good customers. I recently transferred to a branch in Northbrook and let me tell you Joe is one of the customers I missed the most. He was always wore a cheerful smile when he walked in and came to see me every time I was there and we talked sports, money, and his biz. I wish I would've seen this obit sooner or else I would've came to the memorial today after work. Joe is in God's hands now may he watch over his family and his friends. He will be dearly missed. God Bless.

Dear Atkinson Family,
I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Joe's passing. Joe was a great childhood friend, team mate and overall great person. I will never forget the many hours/days and years Joe and me spent together playing baseball. There are many memories, but one of my personal favorites was attending the Kansas City Royals Baseball Camp with Joe the summer of 1973. I will miss knowing that he is here and my sincerest of condolences to Joe's family and many friends.

May GOD bless you and keep you close my friend.

We wish to send our deepest sympathy to the entire Atkinson Family. We got to know Joe and Josh quite well this past year as they became fixtures at our new home that was so elegantly built by Joe and his boys. Joe was over daily just to "check in" and even enjoyed a few Italian meals! He became a true friend to our family. You will be missed, Joe, by ALL the Cayces! Peace be with you all.

I got to know Joe on a personal level for the past years working on cases for him. I saw him just days before this untimely passing. I still cannot believe he wont be calling me to bug me or come to the office and say hello. This trully breaks my heart and I want to wish the family my condolences and god bless him. RIP JOE, you were a wonderful man and will be missed.
