Jane,
A delayed reading od the ND Alumni Magazine told me of Kevin's passing. Rest in Peace, Kevin. Still have good Syracuse memories of contract bridge with you two and Dr. Marye, and Sunday basketball games at St. Lucy's. Ruth and I send our best. Be well.

When news of the passing of John Kevin Doyle, known to me as Kevin, was sent to me by Gary Watson of the Australian auction house, Prestige Philately, I felt very sad to think what a generous and active man the world had lost. Although I did not know him personally, Kevin was very generous to me and the readers of our magazine, 'Australian Stamps Professional'. He was so kind in granting us permission to publish the thrilling 1915 report of the Postmaster General of German New Guinea, found in the East German archives and translated into English. Kevin edited the original translation of the Report (work which involved many others) and supplied us with a copy so that we became the first philatelic magazine (as opposed to "learned journal" to publish the Report in full over four issues, filling a total of around 20 pages. The original publication of an abridged version had been in the 'Germal Postal Specialist' and a full version was then published in 'Vorläufer', of which Kevin was editor.
Such kindness to an editor of a small magazine in Australia spoke to me of the calibre of the man who had so willingly assisted us - and of his passion for philately. Now, I can only reflect that such generosity towards a stranger in this philatelic aspect of his busy life, reminds me of what a sad loss his family and friends have suffered. To them, I extend my own deepest sympathy together with that of our readers, along with a warm appreciation of his generosity in making available to us the marvellous series of really exciting articles we published, based on the unique Report of Postmaster Carl Weller on the operations of the German Post Office in Rabaul when German New Guinea was captured by Australian forces in 1914.
John Kevin Doyle will not be forgotten. We will publish a memorial to, and an appreciation of, John Kevin Doyle, in our magazine.

Jane and family,
I was shocked when we returned from vacation and found the email of Kevin's passing. He was a great co-worker and friend. We spent lots of long hours together working issues on 3B computers or the StarServer platforms. He was always ready to assist in any way he could. His love of scouting was real. I remember him asking me to come restore a carving of an Indian face as part of Neal's Eagle project. I sincerely enjoyed working with Kevin and have lots of great memories of him. I'm sure he will be missed by many and especially by you and the entire family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the days ahead.
God bless you all,
Tom & Sandi Clarey

I always liked Kevin and was happy to share many experiences with him at Chicago Philatelic Society and Collectors Club of Chicago. He was one of the best workers and always pitched in to do what needed to be done. Bless you Jane and know we love you too.

When I sat with Kevin in one of my last visits with him, he shared with me that "the answer is in the question" and we need to pass on not the answers, but the questions. What a wise man! He will be truly missed.

I shall remember Kevin with the fondest of memories--as a fellow philatelist and researcher/writer, our years of working for and on behalf of CPS, CCC, APS, APC; working together on philatelic literature juries, and more. Connie and I are grateful to know him as a friend. We shall miss him. May he rest in peace. Ben Ramkissoon

Jane, although I only met your Kevin once at the recent Girl Scout dinner, I felt like even in his illness that he was someone that I wanted to get to know. His friendly mannerisms that evening and conversation quickly drew me in. I saw how he supported you, even by the sheer fact that he was there for you to see you get your GS Award, he must have made a wonderful companion and husband.
Please know that you have been in my prayers and I will continue to pray for the Lord to bring you comfort and strength.
If we believe what we say we believe, happiness will come to you again, as you and I know - you will be with him in Heaven some day. Until then, he is there raining down loving and comforting wishes and sending mental hugs and smiling at you with those Irish eyes to help you through.
