JOHN MCKEVITT Obituary

John James McKevitt, Jr. passed away from cancer at home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born in the Bronx, NY, and raised in Elmwood Park, NJ, he was 76 years old and was a resident of Prospect Heights, IL. John will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 48 years, Mary McKevitt (ne Callaghan); children, Kerry (Rafael Castro), Patrick (Laura), and John (Caroline); and six grandchildren, Dominic, Isabella, Anthony, John IV (Jack), Paige, and Sarah. John is survived by his sister, Kathleen Rogers (ne McKevitt); his brother-in-law Patrick Callaghan; his brother-in-law Francis Callaghan; his brother-in-law Sean (Debbie) Callaghan; his brother-in-law Robert Hanley and godson Matthew Hanley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, all of whom he loved. John was an Air Force veteran, graduated from Seton Hall University, and retired as an accountant. He was an active parishioner at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. The family will organize a private mass and funeral at a later date. In lieu of flowers, John's family request that you make a donation to American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).

Always enjoyed spending many holidays with Johnny and Mary and their family. He was loving and kind and interesting to talk to. I hope his family will find comfort in all their memories and see that he lives on in his children and grandchildren.
