John A. Threlkeld Jr. of Carpentersville Memorial services for John A. Threlkeld Jr., formerly of Rison, Ark., will be held at 7 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (corner of Third and Oregon), West Dundee, with the Rev. Roy Hazlerig, pastor of Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Sleepy Hollow officiating. Born March 16, 1934, in New Edinberg, Ark., he died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, in Carpentersville, after a short battle with cancer. Burial service and Interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, in Sheridan, Ark. John was raised in Rison and moved to Illinois in 1958. He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Synthia Threlkeld of Carpentersville; his children Deborah Lazarus of Jonesboro, Ga., Lisa McCoy of Santa Ana, Calif., Paul Threlkeld, David Threlkeld of Escondido, Calif. and John Threlkeld III of Robinson, Ill. John will be greatly missed by his grandson, Nathan Threlkeld, who he and Synthia have raised since childhood. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen Hurst of Stuttgart, Ark.; his sister, Pauline Hutchison of Stuttgart; his brother, Dennis Threlkeld of Monticello, Ark.; his eight grandchildren; his great-grandson; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. John is preceded in death by his father, John A. Threlkeld of Star City, Ark.; his grandchildren, Jason Threlkeld of Jonesboro, Ga., Georgia Threlkeld of Carpentersville and Rachal Threlkeld of Escondido; his brothers, William Robert "Robo" Threlkeld of Star City and Paul Knox Threlkeld of Prague, Ark.; and by his nephew, William Chester Threlkeld of Star City. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Visitation services in Arkansas will be held on Wednesday, at Buie Funeral Home, Sheridan, Ark.
