Denise S. Threlkeld
Edwardsville - Denise S. Threlkeld, age 56, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. She departed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 28, 2026.
Denise Carol was born on December 10, 1969, in Creve Coeur, MO. She was the firstborn daughter of P. Darlene Schumacher and the late Norman Thomas "Tom" Schumacher. She married the love of her lifetime, her high school sweetheart and best friend, Christopher P. Threlkeld, on June 20, 1992, and they were a devoted couple for over 40 years.
Denise was a Believer in Jesus Christ beginning at a young age and shared her Faith in an encouraging way. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and she cherished her two sons and daughter-in-law. Denise loved spending time with her family, close friends, and children. She also loved community service, learning, reading, music, history, nature, travel, Pilates, riding bicycles, vintage homes, porches and porch swings, basset hounds, horses, fine dining, seasonal decorating, celebrating holidays, cooking and baking, gardening, family beach vacations, and the South Carolina Lowcountry. Denise had a friendly personality and sunny disposition that put people at ease in her presence. She enjoyed having great conversations with anyone she met. May happy memories of Denise be a blessing.
Denise graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1988, attended the College of Charleston, SC and graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, IL in 1992 with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Business Minor. She worked as an Editor, including Coordinating Editor in management, for Facts and Comparisons publisher of medical drug information in St. Louis, MO, from 1992-2002, and then part-time for Edwardsville Public Library Youth Services until 2016. She also briefly worked for the Madison County Regional Office of Education.
Denise is survived by her husband, Christopher P. Threlkeld; son, Connor M. Threlkeld and wife Olivia (nee Lowe), son Riley C. Threlkeld; mother, P. Darlene Schumacher; sister, Christel Wickenhauser; mother-in-law, C. Jananne Threlkeld; sister-in-law, Carol E. Threlkeld; aunt, Susan Denise; uncle, Michael Griffin; uncle, Alan Williams; uncle, Kenneth Clerk; aunt, Ann Schumacher; uncle, William "Bud" and aunt, Diane Terry; nephews, Adam, Ethan and Benjamin Wickenhauser; nieces, Julia Dreher-Threlkeld and Isabel Ring; and many beloved cousins and very dear friends.
All are welcome to express their condolences to the Threlkeld Family on February 3, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. A funeral service will be held in the small Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Edwardsville, IL on February 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Tom Hufty officiating, followed by an outdoor graveside burial service Mr. Donnie Chandler officiating, prayer by Mr. Bill Bush. Denise also requested that all her Caregivers know how grateful and appreciative she was of their excellent and loving care, and that she believed she received World-Class cancer treatment at Siteman BJC Healthcare in St Louis, MO over the past five years. Following in both her Father Toms' and Uncle Carls' footsteps, Denise was a Cancer Research Participant.
