Pastor Joe's passion and love for God lead me closer to God over two decades ago. Knowing him influenced the rest of my life, both here on earth and in eternity. I thank You, Lord, for Pastor Joe.

I cherish the times I spent with Pastor Joe during my high school and college years. He was instrumental in reminding me of what truly matters in life - to know our Savior and to make Him known. Joe's legacy will live on, powerfully, in the many people who have called him mentor, pastor, father, and friend.

I just wanted to say in the brief time that I got to know Joe he showed me such a pastors heart and cared deeply about ministry and loving Jesus. He was an incredible man and it is very sad knowing he is not with us anymore. Yet I rejoice for he is now truly with The Lord.

It was wonderful to be a part of doing ministry with Joe at Souled Out. His life of serving Christ impacted a great number of people. He also raised some wonderful sons that were super fun for me to hang out with during high school and college. May God comfort and bless the Manahan family.

Joe - Your smile and sincere love for others will always be remembered as an outward manifestation of the inward Love for Jesus that was and will always be your life. Thank God He left the Holy Spirit here for Mary, your family and all of us who miss you...until we smile together again with you and Jesus. What a day that will be!

It is always bittersweet when one of the really special people, a shining light, leaves this earth. As someone said, heaven is richer, but there's a big hole left on earth. Just look at the wonderful photo and smile of Pastor Joe, and there's no doubt the light of Christ was a beacon that drew many to him and the Lord. He was my pastor many years ago, but I never forgot the smile, compassion, pure joy and love for Jesus and the Word. Those early days at the church I attended were special in many ways. When I learned of his cancer three years ago, Joe and his family again became very close to my heart and almost daily prayers. Seeing him smiling after his major surgery was amazing. But that was Joe.
I was sorry to see the suffering he and his immediate family went through in the last few months and ached when I read Mary's updates of the many problems from chemo and return of the cancer. Thank you, God, for giving us Joe for these years on earth. Thank you, that he is alive and well again, laughing, hugging, praising, singing in the eternal home God has for us.
Many prayers and love to you, Mary, and the large family, in this personal loss. He is already missed.
God bless you. Much love,

What we all experienced together as a church was precious. Not everyone has a chance to be part of a church family. Family is what we were and are and that was Joe's doing. He loved family. His own parents, sisters and brothers. Mary and their boys were his joy on earth. Our church family brought him joy and he in return filled our hearts with much love. He brought us closer to the Father. His example and preaching showed us the Son. He had an annointing that brought the Holy Spirit to us when we needed comfort. Joe meant more to me than I can express. His love for God and his inexahaustable intercession was inspiring. He will indeed hear "Well done, good and faithful servant." He and Mary drew close to God through his illness and I never heard him ask the question, "Why me God? Why this?" He was focused on God's will and there he stayed. Now he is with our Lord. He has no more pain and no more suffering. Those of us left behind will have to look to the Lord to help us with our grief, just like Joe did. I will miss him very much. He was more like a brother than a friend.

At the old Arlington High School gym, and after that Palatine High, Pastor Joe was the first person to ever introduce me to Christian preaching and teaching. HIs desire to be on the cutting edge and push the limits of an abundant Christian life, the Lord knows, is just what I needed to keep me interested and motivated.
I thank God for Joe Manahan. He richly deserves the great reward he is now receiving from his Lord and Friend, Jesus.
With all the saints and angels we say Amen to a life well lived.

Everyone has that moment in their lifetime when your life will never be the same afterwards, you remember what you were wearing, where you were, who you were with. About 14 years ago, Pastor Joe took part in that moment with me when he introduced me to my lifelong friend, Jesus. In high school, sometimes it is hard to find a mentor or adult that will take the time to listen to you, and hear out your worries and questions. Pastor Joe always took the time to hear my anxieties, worries, questions when it came to life and he never acted like I was bothering him or he didn't have time or that he had better things to do. Even though I know he had 100 other teens looking to seek out his wisdom and care! Looking back, I know that I am far far far far far from the only person that felt this way about him. It's been years since I have seen him, but I still remember some of the things that he said to me, that I still carry with me to this day. The smile that he had on his face on a daily basis, created this comfort in me that had me convinced that there had to be a higher power! What an amazing man. What a loss that your family and everyone that knew him is feeling but what a gain Heaven now has! So sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Just one of the 100's of people that Pastor Joe helped, saved, touched, or comforted.

Mary, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this trying time. Joseph was a breath of sunshine, all ways a smile and a friendly word. I will miss seeing him in the yard doing work that gave him pleasure. We are here for you.
