Meri Hoe Obituary

Meri Lynn "Mer" Hoe

Meri Lynn "Mer" Hoe (nee Flannery), age 76, a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida for 20 years, formerly of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, passed away March 4, 2025. She was born February 13, 1949, in Great Lakes, Illinois. Meri was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia (nee Bloomhuff); and her son, Douglas Roland.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Randy Hoe; her loving son, Gregory (Tracy) Roland, and stepsons, Steven and Ryan Hoe; dear granddaughter, Sophia Tran Roland; loving siblings Michael, Barry, Jeffrey, Debbie, and Karen, and siblings-in-law, Rick, Karen, Cathy, and Rodger; and her dear niece and nephew, Kristie and Connor Ford.

Meri, known by her family as "Mer," took pride in finding the abstract minutiae in what would classically be the mundane. Rarely found without a smile, Mer walked through life with ease and curiosity. Her spirit lives on in her granddaughter, Sophia, with whom she deeply enjoyed indulging in and encouraging childlike fascinations. She cherished her time with family. For weeks and months of each year she would travel to be with her dearest relatives. It took priority in her life to witness and aide in the impactful and transformational moments in their lives. Whether she would babysit, help move, lend an ear, decorate, or just be there, she would always make sure you knew she was there for you. When Meri returned home from her extended travels, she took great pride in growing her garden to the oasis it has become today. She created a serene place to spend hours capturing the perfect image of a flower in bloom to share with her family on her next travels. Many of her prints are hanging on the walls of her families' homes, a gift of her love forever. Mer will forever be there cheering for us to try something interesting and go on an adventure. We honor her memory by finding something uniquely beautiful we may not have otherwise seen in our daily lives. "Hug hug squeeze squeeze" from Mer to all of us.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois. The family has requested those attending to please wear something colorful or floral, as Meri loved bright colors would have wanted everyone to be dressed more cheerful.
