Ralph Walberg Obituary

Ralph E. Walberg of Mount Prospect Memorial services for Mr. Ralph E. Walberg, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. today, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 S. Wille St., Mount Prospect. Born Feb. 20, 1931, in Chicago, he died Thursday, June 5, 2003. Mr. Walberg received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, and his master's degree from Loyola University in Chicago. He started his career in Prospect Heights Elementary School District 23, as a teacher, principal, business manager and acting superintendent. For the last 37 years, he was the executive director of Countryside Association for the Handicapped, a facility which serves mentally disabled individuals. He retired in May, 2003. Ralph was the husband of Barbara Walberg (nee Swanson); father of Brian (Nancy) Walberg, Nancy (Marc) Lubkeman and Susan (Todd) Ricketts; grandfather of Kristin, Barbara, Carolyn, Britta, Erica, Linnea, Vincent and Isabella; son of Anne Walberg and the late Waldemar; and brother of Carl (Carol) Walberg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Countryside Association for the Handicapped, 21154 W. Shirley Road, Palatine, IL 60074. Arrangements were made by Friedrichs Funeral Home, Mount Prospect. TO THE WALBERG FAMILY AND FRIENDS,

WE ARE SADDENED TO LEARN ABOUT RALPH'S PASSING. HE WAS ALWAYS THE GENTLEMAN, KIND AND THOUGHTFUL TO ALL HE ENCOUNTERED HERE. I WANT TO PASS ON TO YOU THE CONDOLENCES THAT ARE EXTENDED BY BOTH THE STAFF AND THE PEOPLE THAT WERE WITH RALPH IN CLASS. WE HAVE BEEN MISSING RALPH , NOW WE ARE CONFIDENT HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. IT'S BEEN A PRIVILEDGE TO HAVE WORKED WITH HIM.

It's very saddening to hear of Ralph's passing. My condolences go out to his family.



I first met him many years ago at one of many Palatine Township board meetings. He was a fine, gentle and and caring man and the NW suburbs have suffered a great loss.
