Richard P. Niemiec, age 91, was a resident of Wauconda, IL for 62 years. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy; loving father of Sandra (Howard) Grossman, Pat (Warren) Hofert and the late David (Sue); cherished grandfather of Ann Marie and Jonathan (Sarah) Grossman and David Jr. and Joe (Melissa) Niemiec, and Megan and Shawn O'Brien; proud great grandfather of Emma and Jake Grossman and Nathan and Patrick Niemiec; dear brother of Dolores (the late Tom) Brady and fond uncle of many. Richard was born April 25, 1925 in Chicago and passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, IL. Richard was a proud World War II, United States Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Intrepid. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, after many years of dedicated service. Visitation will be Monday, March 6, 2017, from 4-8 pm at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084 and on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, from 10 am to time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church 40 N. 1st St. Cary, IL 60013 (847-516-2636). Interment with Military Honors will follow at Transfiguration Cemetery, Wauconda, IL.
