ROBERT HASENJAEGER Obituary

Robert "Bob" Hasenjaeger, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Prospect on January 17, 2022, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by four generations of his family and Judy, his wife of 67 years. Born in Chicago in 1931, Bob was a graduate of Lane Tech High School Class of 1949. He joined the US Marine Corps during the Korean War in 1951. Corporal Hasenjaeger returned home in 1953 and upon meeting Judy Connelly, "the-girl-next-door," married her in 1954. Bob was a salesman for Crucible Steel Co. for 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf and winemaking and playing pool with his grandkids typically while listening to Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. A lifelong hobbyist, he took great pride in his stained glass projects, from delightful sun-catchers to custom window pieces. His creativity and attention to detail will last forever in the hundreds of beautiful art works he has left behind for so many to enjoy. Most of all, he loved his family, his country and the Cubs. Bob and Judy lived in Mount Prospect for 35 years prior to moving to Huntley, IL and became "Snow Birds" to Summerfield, FL for 20 years, where they made lasting relationships with many neighbors and friends. In 2019, they moved back to Mount Prospect to enjoy their growing family. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; his son, John Hasenjaeger; daughters, Nancy McKillop (the late Stuart) and Julie Michalik (Joel); grandchildren, Kevin McKillop, Sarah McKillop, Magen Pignataro (Mario), Joe Hasenjaeger, Alicia Shumaker (Aaron); and great-granddaughters, Holly Paoli, Leah Paoli, Harper, Hannah and Hayden Shumaker. Services Private. Memorial donations may be made to the Robert Hasenjaeger Memorial Fund at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/give/memorials.

As one of Bob's customers, I looked forward to our meetings. Sharing business and non business conversation. as we go through life, there are certain people you "hit it off with." Bob was one of those people. A good guy!

Dear Judy, we are so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We had no idea he was not well. We remember when we first met over 22 years ago when we were all newbies in Sun City. Many happy times and fond memories that we have shared. Sending our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
