Our beautiful daughter, Robbin Hampson Ottman has joined you in Heaven on Valentines Day 2019. In a way it seems the best day to join you along with the Lord, the day of Love. Not only because she was our much loved daughter and you the wonderful surrogate son and grandson to our family but also because the two of you were great pals growing up in Spring Beach. The two of you shared the aspects of a rocky childhood that each of you detoured around to become the well rounded human beings that so many gravitated to and emulated. Thank you for adding so much to the Jursa/Hampson happiness.

I was searching for Bob because I hadn't heard from him in a while and came across his obituary. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, and my prayers are with all who loved him. We talked a lot about spiritual matters and he was always so inspiring and encouraging. God bless you Bob.

I met Bob at East Park in the summer of 2002, but at once, Bob felt like a lifelong friend. We shared our stories and the blessings of our children, along with summer time at the pool. I soon realized he was not just mine, he was everybody's friend. What a truly great guy. I will miss Bob.

I was searching for Bob or Karen Murphy and fell on the obituary. I knew Bob ages ago when I lived next door to his sister Karen. He tried to teach my son Alex to play LaCrosse. He was always so positive. It sounds like he had a great life that ended too soon. My heart goes out to all who loved him. Maryellen K. LaJeunesse [email protected]

It is hard to believe we won't be able to run into Bob and his three daughters at the pool next summer. He always loved to take them there and spend time with them in general. We will miss Bob, his smile and his ability to make us laugh. Rest in peace.

What an amazing day it was to sit in an over crowded church and hear everyone there say that Bob was THEIR best friend! He was certainly MY best friend. I met Bob in 1982 my first week at Ripon, and from that moment he was my best friend. He taught me valuable skills and life lessons; such as how to catch fish on Big Lake, how to skip classes to gain another level in Donkey Kong and to appreciate his favorite music group "Little Feat."

He was an amazing friend. He was an incredibly proud and devoted father. He was indeed a rich man.

As next door neighbors, we spent a lot of time with Bob and his family over the years. Bob enjoyed the company of others, and he was a whiz in the kitchen! He loved cooking...and it was always a treat to "break bread" (as he would say) with him and his family. We attended the memorial service yesterday, and the eulogies were incredibly touching and heartfelt. It was a really lovely remembrance of a man who was devoted, loving father and a friend to many. His time came too early. His positive energy and his spirit will be missed. Rest in peace Bob.

I met Bob our freshman year n Scott Hall at Ripon. Bob tried his hardest to teach me how to handle a lacrosse stick but lacrosse players are smarter, better looking and more talented than rugby players.
Bob always had a smile and joke no matter what was going on. A gentle humble spirit who brought joy to so many.
Save me a cold Point beer, Murph!

Murph without effort made impression on so many of his Ripon classmates, many considering him a trusted friend. Making it that more difficult to say goodbye to someone who leaves such indelible mark. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family especially his children during this saddest of times.

On behalf of the many friends from Scott Hall our heartfelt sympathies,

I had the privilege to coach alongside Bob for a season. His enthusiasm, humor, and passion made it such a fantastic and fun-filled season for the whole team. My time working with him helped make me a better coach and I continue to use what I learned from him. He inspired and motivated everyone to enjoy the game the the fullest. He will truly be missed.

Our daughter, Robbin, says what is in our hearts. It is so unbelievable that he is not physically here anymore. In the stories, Fast Blades and The Work Bench you get a snap shot of his youth and his start as an all around great contractor. = Our arms go around Gina, Lilli and Cecilia. How lucky we are to have had Bob in our lives. He was such a kind and generous man. Everyone who knew him was very aware of his love and devotion to his three girls. He always put them first and was so very proud! Our hearts are broken. We will miss his phone calls and seeing his smiling face. What a dear friend he was to us both.

My heart aches with the loss of Bob. He was like family to the Jursas and Hampsons of Spring Beach Way. He was a dear friend to me as we grew up and I will never forget his kindness throughout the years. Your brother, father was greatly valued and we hold his memory with the greatest respect.

In conjunction to The Work Bench, my parents could not have had a second "grandson" with a more kind heart and giving nature than Bob. It breaks the family's heart to know that we will not receive one more Email from our Friend.

Bobby and I first met in high school at Lake Forest Academy. He was the outgoing, friendly one, always with a smile and a joke. Back in the day, corduroys were in fashion. I had a pair with thin spaces between the stripes. He had a pair with thick spaces. So, he named me “Little Lego” and deemed himself “Big Lego.” Bobby was like that, always seeing a connection, always turning the mundane into something to celebrate. And, oh, but that laugh of his. It was infectious.

After high school, our paths diverted and we mostly stayed in Christmas-card touch. But I finally had a chance to visit Bobby during a Midwest book tour in 2007. We stopped by his house and my kids had the chance to meet his three beautiful girls. They were so obviously the pride and joy of his life.

Generous of spirit. Funny. Happy. That's how I'll always remember Bobby. If I close my eyes, I can hear him laughing.

Condolences,

Bob was the warmest guy I'll ever know and I could never get enough of his huge sense of humor. What a loss for us that he's gone already. Rest in peace Bob. You were the best college roommate a guy could ever have! What a father too, always taking delight in his daughters and all that they were up to, big and small.

Bob and I met at Ripon College when I thought I'd give lacrosse a try. He encouraged me to stick with it and was always there coaching me to be better. We started as teammates and ended as friends. I cannot think of Ripon College lacrosse without thinking of Bob. It was truly a happy occasion when we played in the alumni lax game this past June - it felt like we had seen each other just yesterday, though it had been 29 years. My prayers go out to your family - you will always be remembered.

Bob was a fellow supporter of our veterans and our community. I met him through our work together at the Honor Ride and Run. He was kind and gracious, funny and willing to do whatever was needed to help someone out. His love and devotion to his daughters and his pride in them and being their dad was so obvious and wonderful to see. He was clearly close to his entire family and my prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

I was fortunate to have spoken to Bob very recently and tell him how much I appreciated the way he treated and supported my children, Lauren and George. I know he was loved by many and despite many challenges throughout his too brief life, always managed a smile and upbeat approach. That was his gift. He was unique and will be missed. Walk with God my friend.

Bob was such a good guy. He did a lot of work for us at the house this past year and we were a little bummed when the most recent project was finished, as his presence would be missed. We laughed a lot with Bob. Not a day went by where he did not mention his 3 girls. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.
