ROBERT "BOB" WEPPLER

Robert "Bob" Weppler formerly of Libertyville Robert "Bob" Weppler, 90, died peacefully in his home in Bradenton, FL on Sept. 20, 2012. Bob grew up in Morris, IL and graduated from St. Francis High School. He served as a communications engineer in the U.S. Army during World War II and was on the team that provided secure communications between the Pentagon and the European War Theater. He later served as an instructor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob worked as a communications engineer for Illinois Bell. He married Georgette Russ in 1943. Upon retirement, Bob and Georgette moved to Bradenton, FL, where they enjoyed many years together. Bob enjoyed fishing and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs. Later in life, he discovered his love for the game of golf. Among other community activities, he repaired talking book machines for the blind. Bob was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Libertyville, Queen of Martyrs in Sarasota, and a founding member of Our Lady of the Angels in Bradenton. Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Henry, Jimmy and Joel Weppler and Mildred Metzger. Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; his children, Larry Weppler, Vicki Paoli, Terry Weppler and Pam Weppler; grandchildren, Keith, Courtney, Brian, David, Jamie, Shannon, Sarah, Sean and Jonathan; stepgrandchildren, Shaughn Patrick, Debra, Nick and Bill; great-grandchildren, Jake, Claire, Elias, Owen and Keeley, with twin great-grandchildren on the way; and great-stepgrandchild, Mason Phillip. A memorial Mass was held on Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota, FL. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in lieu of flowers.
