Rogers Hornsby Wendt of Wauconda The funeral service for Rogers Hornsby Wendt, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Interment will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Hawthorn Woods. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 4 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Born Oct. 15, 1926, in Granite City, Ill., he died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, in Lake Zurich. Mr. Wendt was A World War II Army veteran, serving in Japan, and a past commander of American Legion Post #964, where he was a member for over 50 years. He was an avid Cubs fan and a longtime business owner in Lake Zurich with Roger Wendt & Associates for over 50 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Audrey J. (nee Peck); father of Chuck (Carol) of Lake Zurich, Ken (Sandy Schmidt) of Lake Zurich, Sherry (Tim) Carey of Elburn, Lori (Tim) Kohorst of Geneva and Judi (Russ Plante) Cudmore of Geneva; grandfather of Denise (Scott) Staples, Tom Wendt, Megan (Anthony) VerPlancke, Randy Wendt, Diana Carrillo and Christopher (Jenny) Klavinski; great-grandfather of Taylor Anderson, Jenna Wray Wendt, Sofie Carrillo and Melanie Klavinski; dear son of the late Charles and Inez Wendt; brother of Jack (the late Helen), Gene (Sherry), Robert and the late Charles G.; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
