Ruby Blomquist Obituary

Ruby E. Blomquist Ruby E. Blomquist, 88, went home to be with her Lord May 27, 2009. She was born in Sister Bay, Wis., April 6, 1921. After graduating from Gibraltar High School, she took a job in Chicago, where she met and married Arthur Blomquist. Many of their married years were spent in their home in Park Ridge, Ill., where she enjoyed gardening and was honored to be the president of the Park Ridge Garden Club. She also was a very accomplished seamstress and sewed many beautiful dresses for her daughter's doll business. In 1999 Ruby and Art moved back to Sister Bay to enjoy their retirement near their summer cottage. Ruby will be missed and remembered for the open door and open heart she extended to so many. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Larry) Miglore; grandchildren, Steven (Susan) Wegner (great-grandson Hayden), Scott (Laura) (great-grandson Matthew, great-granddaughters Grace and Olivia), Diane (Derek) (great-granddaughter Lindsay); brother-in-law, Willard Kramer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents, Sam and Isabelle Logerquist; sisters, Hazel, Virginia (Andrew) Nejedlo, Irene (Harold) and Clarissa Kramer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at the First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. Guests may begin to assemble at the church starting at 10:15 a.m. Food will be served at the church following the service. A small graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Little Sister Cemetery.
