VIRGINIA A. CVEK

1931 - 2017

Virginia A. Cvek, 85, a longtime resident of West Chicago, IL passed away peacefully Thursday March 9, 2017. She was born on July 8, 1931, in Chicago, IL to John and Pauline (Kruk) Sindler. She is survived by her sister Jeanne Jens, children: Linda (Robert) Cvek-Adams, George W. (Lara) Cvek Jr., Cindy (Terry) Bell, Paul S. (Veronica) Cvek, John R. (Shelly) Cvek and Jody M. (Jami) Cvek, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her father, mother, siblings John, Ronald and Richard, and daughter-in-law Donna (Hicks), and granddaughter Rachel. Virginia attended grammar school at Blessed Sacrament in Chicago, and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Chicago - class of 1949. She married George Cvek on June 3, 1950. They were married for 66 years. They moved from Chicago to West Chicago in 1958. Virginia worked at Dog n' Suds, Sears and the City of West Chicago Police Department. She studied nursing at College of DuPage, where she had an "A" average, she was proud to be a member of Mensa, which is the internationally high I.Q. Society. Virginia was a longtime member of West Chicago's VFW Post 6791 Women's Auxiliary. A memorial service will be held, Tuesday March 14, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, 820 Pine St. West Chicago, IL 60185. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary's Church 140 N. Oakwood Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185. Following the Mass, burial will be held for Virginia and her spouse George (who passed away on Christmas morning, 2016), at 1:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W.
