VIVIAN CHASE Obituary

SUGAR GROVE - Vivian Frances "Viv" Chase, nee Wensmann, 83, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on June 4. She was born on December 19, 1931, in Redlake, Minnesota and was a member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. Bob, her beloved husband of nearly 59 years, and Viv lived in Warrenville for 33 years where they raised their eight children: Barb (Gary) Nielsen, Margie Thorgesen, Lynn (Mike) Drendel, Robin Carey, Cindy (Steve) Paver, Terry (Tim) Spriggs, Kathy Taylor (Brett Wells), and Bob Chase Jr. She loved spending time with her ever-growing family, which currently includes 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She lived in Prestbury/Sugar Grove for the last 26 years. A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, Viv was involved in numerous ministries at Calvary Church where she was a committed member. Those that know her best would describe her as a prayer warrior as she would get up early each morning to pray. She is the co-founder/ owner of Chase's Upholstery in Warrenville (est. 1962). She sang sweetly, played a mean game of scrooge, and traveled extensively, often with children and grandchildren in tow. Her brothers, Al and Bill Wensmann; four grandchildren; and son-in-law Nels Thorgesen preceded her in death. Services will be held on June 24th at Calvary Church in Naperville. Visitation will begin at 10AM, followed by a celebration of life service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Viv's great-granddaughter Megan's trust fund (diagnosed with Costello Syndrome). Please send checks (payable to Megan Villarreal; account #1060 100 9284) to Old Second National Bank, 200 W. John St., North Aurora, IL 60542.

My parents Frank and Eva were great friends with Bob and Viv. I have many fond memories of the Chases and the Kellys getting together in the early 1960s at the Chase's place or at our home on River Road. Black Hawks game on TV, card game at the table, lots of kids... A beautiful time. Beautiful people.

Condolences to the loved ones.

It's been many years since I lived in Warrenville and attended school there but I did want to express my sympathies to the Chase family. I remember Margie, Lynn and Robin from the band at Holmes and Wheaton Central. God be with you in the days ahead. Take care.
