William Wilson Obituary

William Crosbie Wilson William Crosbie Wilson was born Jan. 12, 1920, at his home in Glen Ellyn and he died peacefully in his sleep June 3, 2007. The son of Howard Gardner and Millicent Georgene Wilson, Bill lived most of his life in Glen Ellyn, graduating from Glenbard in 1938, Kenyon College in 1942, and Northwestern University, where he received both his M.D. and M.S. During World War II he served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps. Throughout his life he remembered his years at Kenyon with great happiness and attended his grandson's Kenyon graduation in 2006. Dr. Wilson was board certified in neurology and psychiatry and maIntained his practice in Glen Ellyn for his entire working life. In addition, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University and the University of Illinois at Chicago and as a director of the Fox Valley Mental Health Clinic and West Suburban EEG, as well as a long professional association with Central DuPage Hospital. He was also a pioneer in working with children with learning disabilities, and is the co-author of "Minimal Brain Dysfunction." In 1944 Bill met Marjorie Ruth Copp at the Glen Ellyn train station, and they were married in Glen Ellyn later that year. After a brief time living in Elgin, they made their home in Glen Ellyn for over 30 years. Involved in his community, Bill served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church, a friend and member of the interfaith Pastoral CounseIing Group, a Little League baseball coach, and as a lifelong fan, player and supporter of Glenbard football. He enjoyed sports, running, swimming, and his 1957 pink Thunderbird. After retirement in 1985, Bill and Marge retired to Venice and Nokomis, Fla., for 15 years before returning to Wyndemere Life Care Center in Wheaton. Marjorie died in May 2005. Father of four, grandfather of five and great-granddaddy of three, Bill is survived by his children and their families: Mike Wilson of Glen Ellyn and his children, Jed and Diane Wilson of San Diego, and Zak Wilson of Wheaton; Scott and Barbara Wilson of Genoa, Nev., and their son Todd, his wife Christine, and their two children Madeline and Ryan; Kit and Claire Wilson of Ripton, Vt., and their children Ben and Trina Wilson and their new baby Nolan of Boston, and Peter Wilson of Ripton; and Melissa Coons of Madison, Wis., and her partner Ed Jordan. He also leaves a special daughter-in-law Chris Wilson. He was predeceased by his sisters, Isobel Rodney and Georgene Yotter. As a physician, a parent and grandparent, he was a lifelong caregiver for his parents, his wife, hIs family, and countless numbers of patients and will always be remembered for what he did for others.
