I am Joey's first cousin. I was very close to Joey's father. I loved my Uncle Jimmy very much. I was so sad when my father told me that my Uncle Jimmy had passed away many years ago. Joey grew up in Alabama and I lived in Jacksonville, Florida. I did not have an opportunity to spend much time with Joey. I remember him more as a young boy than as an adult. Joey reminded me a lot of my Uncle Jimmy and also Aunt Libby. I love all of the sweet family. Joey's brothers and sisters are all special. The family has experienced so much difficulty with the loss of loved ones at such early ages. I know that a strong Christian faith has helped the family face the difficulties and illness many of the children have struggled with. I know Aunt Libby is a strong woman, but I can't possibly ever understand how hard it is to endure the loss of her precious children. Over the years, I have often thought about the family and wished I could express my love for each one. Laura has kept in touch a little bit. I feel very close to Laura and miss her. I love you Laura.
I remember Joey as a sweet young boy. I could see in his face my beloved Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Libby. I love each and every member of the family. The many miles that separated us did not alter my affection and love for the Jimmy Murray family. You are all precious and dearly loved. My heart is with you now and always. I believe we will see Joey and all the family again in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
One of my favorite poems was written by William Wordsworth. Near the end of the poem he wrote:
"Though we can never bring back the hour of splendor in grass, glory in the flower,
Grieve not rather find strength in what remains behind."
We can't bring Joey back, but we can find strength in the times shared when he was with us. It is so hard to lose a dear loved one, but Joey loved his family and was dearly loved. Joey's love and life will always remain with all that knew him. We must find strength and hope that somehow our grieving can and will turn to joy and allow us to celebrate his life.
Sincerely and With Much Love,
Cousin Skip

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Joey's passing and the loss of another precious cousin. Even though it has been many years since I've seen Joey, I have often thought of him. When I was a teenager, Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Libby were kind enough to take me with them and my cousins on some of their trips when they visited Florida. A fond memory I have of Joey is when he was just a little guy. During these trips he would sometimes sit in my lap & let me hold him.
I always thought Uncle Jimmy must've looked a lot like Joey when he was a young boy. I'm praying for Aunt Lbby, my cousins, Joeys wife and all the families. With love and prayers,
Marti Jackson
