Vincent Guiliani Obituary

Vincent Guiliani, 95, slipped peacefully from this world on December 1, 2025, surrounded by family who loved and cherished him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, RuthAnn Cassady Guiliani, his mother Louise Pippin Giuliani, father Ernesto Giuliani, sister Mercedes Giuliani Austin, and brother Arturo Giuliani.

Vince was born on October 21, 1930 in Georgetown, Illinois. The family later moved to Indiana. He graduated from Manual High School in Indianapolis in 1950. Vince was a gifted athlete who set state records in pole vaulting. He was also a talented football player and received a football scholarship to Butler University. His college football career was cut short by a shoulder injury, after which he made the decision to enlist in the Navy. During a brief leave, he eloped with RuthAnn to San Diego. Their lifelong love story and partnership was inspiring to all who witnessed it. There were countless lessons to be learned in watching how RuthAnn and Vince set goals, worked together, had fun, and put their family first.

During his time in the Navy Vince served as a Communications Specialist on an aircraft carrier support vessel. He served during the Korean War. After his service in the Navy, he and RuthAnn moved to Indianapolis where he began his career with Indiana Bell, and he worked there until his retirement. They raised two sons, Bruce and Steve. Vince was involved and supportive of all their activities. A former Eagle Scout himself, Vince became a scout master, enduring many cold camping experiences.

As the boys grew, he became a pit crew mechanic to support their motocross racing obsession. Vince was well known as a talented mechanic and could work on any type of engine. He was also very artistic and a talented woodworker. Most of the projects he made were given away to friends and family as gifts. Every Christmas, family members received original Christmas decorations crafted from wood, and new babies in the family were always gifted hand-crafted toys. Vince loved children and had a special ability to relate to them. He could coax a smile from the most fractious baby or timid toddler.

Vince leaves behind a legacy of love for his wife, love for his family, grit, an incredible work ethic paired with a can-do spirit, creativity, generosity, and acts of service to others with no fanfare.

Everyone who knew Vince at any stage of his life considered him a friend. He and RuthAnn traveled the world, and she joked that anywhere they went they would encounter an acquaintance of Vince.

Vince is survived by sons Bruce (Kathy) Guiliani and Steve Guiliani, as well as grandchildren Brent (Ashley) Guiliani, Kara (Keith) Cecil, and Cecilia, Sophia and Vincent Guiliani, plus bonus grandchildren Sean (Amanda) Gainey and Katie (Argen) West. Great grandchildren fortunate enough to know Vince include Katelyn, Kiersten, and Kevin Cecil, Blake and Anna Guiliani, and Cary West.

A memorial service will be held for Vince on Sunday, December 7, 2025 in the chapel at Otterbein Senior Living in Franklin, Indiana at 1:00 p.m. The family requests no flowers but if you'd like to make a donation to Vince's favorite charity, a family member would be happy to provide information.
