Samuel John Coleman, 80, of Fredericktown, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1935 in Ellington, son of Victor Arnold and Vina Mell (Harvey) Coleman.
He married Louise Phillips Dec. 16, 1953. She preceded him in death Oct. 22, 1990. He later married Alberta Pirtle Sept. 6, 1991 in Desloge.
Mr. Coleman is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Louise; and sisters Hazel Shoemaker, Dixie Shoemaker, and Beulah Henson.
Survivors include his wife Alberta Phillips; children and stepchildren Steve (Barbara) Coleman of Fredericktown, Marsha (Paul) Stumbaugh of Fredericktown, Connie (Dickie) Bales of Park Hills, Joyce Pirtle of Desloge, Donna (Denny) Barnhouse of Bonne Terre, and Lisa (Steve) Reminger of Farmington; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Coleman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trading cars, but deer hunting was his greatest joy. He loved playing his guitar especially at church where he was a member of the Faith Fellowship Outreach Center in Park Hills.
Funeral services were Feb. 2 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rentfro and Pastor Raymond Michael officiating. Burial was in the Christian Cemetery in Fredericktown. Pallbearers were: Jeffrey Francis, Jerry Sheets, Joshua Matheson, Matthew Bales, Greg Stumbaugh, and Gary Lawson.
