Andrew Joseph Obituary

Andrew Joseph of Pocopson Twp. Andrew Joseph ("Andy"), age 20, of Pocopson Township, passed away on August 29, 2014 due to complications of epilepsy. He was a 2012 graduate of Unionville High School and was just beginning his junior year at Tulane University in New Orleans LA, majoring in Business. Andy was the lead singer of the musical group Windoview, a popular local band that performed frequently in the Kennett, West Chester, and Wilmington areas. The band had released two CDs of original music, as well as several videos on their YouTube channel. As the community mourns his loss, the family asks that you remember Andy as the happy, fun-loving and kind-hearted young man he was. His positive energy and infectious smile had an enormous impact on everyone around him. His talent was inspiring and his compassion genuine. He truly will be missed. Andy is survived by his parents Marc and Lori of Pocopson; his brother Alex, currently attending Duke Law School; his sister Mallory, currently attending Lehigh University; maternal grandparents Jean and Frank Deptola of Cape Cod, Mass.; paternal grandparents Fred and Arlene Joseph of Fairfield, Conn.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dog Eddie. A celebration of Andy's life is planned for Saturday November 29th 4 p.m. at Unionville High School. To honor Andy's love of music, a scholarship will be awarded to a 2015 Unionville High School graduate who shares a similar passion for music. It is not often a person finds their passion so early in life. You blessed us all with your creative spirit and song. I remember the jam sessions in my living room with James Kelly on piano and Andy on guitar or his uke; lost in the music, playing authentically and soulfully. I miss you Andy, your shy smile and thoughtful perspectives. Your memory, songs will live on in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know you.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard of Andy's passing. I remember him sitting in my Third Grade classroom as if it were yesterday. He was always kind, polite and caring...he had a smile to share with anyone who needed one. In early August I was visiting the Conovers and we were talking about the boys and their band. I asked Hunter to say hello to Andy as he was going to see him that night. When I got home I looked the boys band up on YouTube and was blown away by Andy's voice and his stage presence. He was a shining star who will always have a special place in my heart. Very Sincerely, Carolyn Harkins

Although I only knew Andy for a short time, it was long enough for him to impact my life immensely. Andy will be sorely missed, but in his young 20 years he made a difference in the lives of those who met him...through his laughter, smiles, great personality, and his music. He was an incredible young man, and I will never forget him. My heart aches for Lori, Mark, Alex and Mallory.
