Bertha Cooper "Bert" Pratt

Bertha 'Bert' Cooper Pratt of Avondale Bertha "Bert" Cooper Pratt, 88, of Avondale, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Donald S. Pratt with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Born in West Grove, she was a daughter of the late Harold T. and the late Eleanor (Darnell) Cooper. Bert was a graduate of the George School. She was an RN for Pennsylvania Hospital in the 1940s. She was then a home and school visitor for Kennett Consolidated School District, and all along worked in the family greenhouse business on Hillendale Rd. She was a member of the local garden club, the Jr Womens League, Hockessin Young Friends, the Board of the Kennett Senior Center, Board of Elections for New Garden Twp., the New Garden Friends Sewing Group, Board of Barclay Friends in West Chester and Planned Parenthood of Chester County. Survivors include, in addition to her husband Donald; one son, Richard C. Pratt (Nancy) of Kennett Square; two daughters, Patricia A. Bohnert (Joseph) of Landenberg and Donna Marie Daunno (Gene) of Kennett Square; one sister, Jeannette Losito of West Grove; and five grandchildren, Stacey (Jay), Ryan, Krista (Daniel), Heather (John-Michael) and Christopher. You are invited to visit with Bert's family from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the New Garden Friends Meeting, 875 Newark Rd., Toughkenamon, PA 19374. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Kennett Friends Home, 147 W.
