Edith B. Miller of Malvern Edith B. Miller, 87, of Malvern, died June 15, 2014 at Paoli Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Youngstown, Ohio and raised in Beaver Falls, Pa., she was the youngest of four daughters of Mr. Clarence S. and Mrs. Georgia C. Brock. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School and received a B.A. in Classics from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. After college, she worked for Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey, and later at the Haverford College library. She married Roger S. Miller of Upper Darby, Pa. in 1950. They moved to Malvern in 1954, where they raised their three children in the house that she lived in for 60 years. A music lover, gardener, and avid reader throughout her life, she also enjoyed yearly camping trips with her family. In later years, she and her husband traveled extensively throughout Europe. Mrs. Miller participated in numerous activities and organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Malvern (later Covenant Presbyterian Church) for over 55 years, serving as a deacon, an elder, and a member of the choir, the Women's Circle, and numerous committees. A lifelong Democrat, she was elected to several terms as a Minority Inspector of Elections in Willistown Township. She served as Vice President of the Malvern Public Library prior to the creation of the Chester County Library system, and she was active in the Sugartown Elementary School PTA. She was a member of the Wilson College Alumnae Association and regularly returned to Wilson for reunions. Other activities included serving as a Girl Scout leader, driving for Meals on Wheels, and working as a theme reader for Radnor High School. Her husband, who taught mathematics at Radnor High School for 27 years, died in 2010. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Emmanuel) Coudel of Liesle, France and Jane Pompetti of Wayne; one son, Brock (Margaret) Miller of Madeira, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Gaston, of Amsterdam, N.Y.
