Paul Freimuth Obituary

Paul H. Freimuth, 90, of Honey Brook, formerly of Elverson and Exton, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Brandywine Hospital due to health issues complicated by COVID-19. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen L. Healy Freimuth, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2010. Born on August 24, 1930, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Gustav H. and Anna Buchholtz Freimuth. Paul graduated from Haverford High School in 1948, then worked at Philadelphia Electric Co. as a Draftsman, where he met his wife Helen. He served in the US Air Force in the Strategic Air Command, 4050th Airway Transportation Group during the Korean War. After the Air Force he worked at Bell Telephone as a service technician then retired from Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories (Pfizer) in Radnor after 36 years of service as a Multi-Media Services Dept. Senior Layout Draftsman. Paul was a 58-year member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Exton where he served on the sanctuary building committee and as a long-time usher. His life-long hobby was model railroading, especially his own Larchmont Valley Railroad HO gauge layout which he built in the basement of four different homes. Family vacations always consisted of camping and scenic railway excursions across the U.S. Mr. Freimuth is survived by his daughters, Linda L. Stevens and her husband, Jeffrey S., Sheila A. F. Wetzel and her husband, Richard B.; by his grandsons, Scott P. (Amanda E.) and Karl F. (Blair W. Hackel) Stevens and by a great grandson, Tyler J. Stevens. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Schmidt, Elsie Roth and Frieda Benninghove. Services and interment will be held privately with the family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Exton. A live stream of the service will be available on the funeral home’s website. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 104 S. Village Avenue, Exton, PA 19341 or to Tel Hai Care Assurance Fund, c/o Tel Hai Development, P.O. Box 190, Honey Brook, PA 19344.

Paul and I had many conversations over the years, as friends and members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. No matter the subject or what we talked about, there was always laughter, always. That was Paul, not just a sense of humor, but humor itself. Faithful in his worship and service at St. Paul's with his entire, active family. I'm not sure if heavenly angels laugh, but if not, they will now. A good man is now with them.
