Barbara Rhea Obituary

Barbara Jean Morris Rhea, age 90, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and wife of the late Walker Lee Rhea, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 26, 2023 at her home.

Barbara was born January 1, 1933 in Memphis, the daughter of the late William Carl Morris and Margery Pearl Holiday Morris. She graduated from Fayette County High School and was married February 8, 1950 to Walker Lee Rhea who preceded her in death. Mrs. Rhea was a former resident of Somerville before moving to Moscow. She was a dedicated worker and was employed as a factory worker at Ripley Screen and Somerville Mills before her retirement.

Mrs. Rhea was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow where she ran the nursery for 35 years. She helped at the Moscow Food Bank for many years and was a hard-working and spunky lady who was a caregiver for many people and animals including cats, dogs and horses.

Mrs. Rhea is survived by two sons, Mitchell Rhea and his wife, Karin and Mike Rhea and his wife, Laurie; her brother, Neal Morris; five grandchildren, Bill Rhea and his wife, Julie, Charlie Rhea, Angie Coyle, Cory Rhea and Mackenzie McKay; seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Morris.

A visitation for Mrs. Rhea will be from 1 until 2 P.M. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Rickey Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery at Moscow.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Cory Rhea, Aaron Murray, Billy Murray, Charlie Rhea, Shane McKay and Alex Gailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Dillard, Skeeter Rutledge and Little Jerry Rutledge.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
