Coleen Louise (Loehrer) Powers, age 59 of Memphis , TN transitioned at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Coleen, originally a native of Parkville MO, attended Park Hill High. She raised a family and attended William Jewell College where she graduated with a B. A. in Arts (Chemistry) in 1983. She had a lifelong career and ambition in government regulatory agencies and in private industries to enhance environmental and public health. She was involved in trying to change and improve safety standards and policies. In addition, she loved aviation (pilot and flight attendant) and was involved in trying to improve safety issues in that field as well. She was a proud and active member of the Medical Reserve Corp in the Memphis–Shelby County Regional area. Coleen had an avid love of nature especially birds and beautiful sunsets. She loved her animal family which included Keeper, Tweepee, and Gee. We who knew Coleen know that she lived a heroic life and always required the best of us no matter the circumstance. She loved family and friends so much. She was exceptional.

Survivors include her daughter and daughter-in-law Amy and Abigail Powers of Shawnee Kansas, and her brother and sister-in-law Troy and Alexis Loehrer of Conifer Colorado. Also, she leaves behind her partner and best friend Mark Thomas and many other family members and friends on which she left indelible good-hearted and always well-meaning thoughtful impressions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Simon Loehrer and Luella M. Loehrer.

Family, friends, and Coleen would wish you to honor her memory in this World by sending contributions to MERI- Medical Education and Research Institute to help support the Genesis Donor Program at 44 South Cleveland, Memphis, TN 38104.

Dear Amy - I am so very sorry for your loss. Although, I never met your mom. From the pictures shared she seemed to a beautiful soul. You definitely have her wonderful smile. I know words cannot take away all the pain but just know. I am keeping you and Abigail in my thoughts and prayers. - Anne
